It seemed like today would only be a Green Christmas. A good holiday, but somehow different for being snow free. However, it started snowing this evening. The snow is accumulating and covering the grass outside. Don’t know if it will last, but I have been looking forward to some snow.
Merry Christmas!

I got a chance to taste a legendary donut before its passing.
Verna’s Donuts in North Cambridge has been a donut institution for almost 30 years and it is closing its doors at the end of 2006. My coworkers brought in donuts from Verna’s all last week in memoriam. I finally heard […]

We awoke last night, not to the sound of reindeer on the roof or some fat guy in a red suit trying to figure out where the fireplace in our house went (he would have been annoyingly early for Christmas), but to the sound of several large metallic sounds and then caterwauling of epic proportions. I listened to the Rolling Stones Exile on Main St. on the way to work this week. I have been listening the album at least once a week if not more for the last couple of weeks. I have owned Exile on Main St. for a while, but when I saw that Robert […]

In a bit of Solstice fun, JK Rowling announced the title of the next Harry Potter book - Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Having just re-read the Half-Blood Prince, I am definitely looking forward and dreading the last book. Endings are always so hard.

One of the episodes was mislabeled. It was a duplicate of another episode. I sent email and got a prompt response with an opportunity to download the episode again. I downloaded it again and it was the same […]

I listened to Beulah’s The Coast is Never Clear on the way to work this morning. It was still unseasonable warm, but overcast.
On the way home, Bob Dylan’s Highway 61 Revisted out rocked the the screeches and bumps of the T. Some albums just work in the subway, others don’t. […]

Across from the local grocery sits a very visible little place that looks more like an American attempt at an Irish pub called R.F. O’Sullivan & Son. Outside the front door is a very large sign stating no smoking and no cell phones. On busy nights you can see a few people milling […]

I have a bit of a backlog on the local eateries, so I need to get started on blogging about them or fall completely behind.
EVOO is a swank little place about a block away from the apartment. It is upscale compared to the other places nearby (Dial A Pizza anyone?), but it […]

I finally have my PC and my Internet connection setup here in Boston. Actually Somerville, MA, which sits just north of Cambridge. It is affectionately called “Slumerville” by my co-workers who live in the same town.
The movers dropped off the stuff from the apartment and the Comcast guy hooked up the phone, Internet […]
