Warwick Wine Estate - producers of some fine South African wine

I am currently on a mission to find some bottles of Warwick Wine Estate wines in the Seattle area. I was going to carry some bottles back with me back from Cape Town, but as I already had 8 bottles of wine, I decided more bottles was going to make my carry-on luggage not […]

Acquiring an Xbox 360 the Long Way

I finally “picked up” my pre-ordered Xbox 360 yesterday at the local EB Games. I went into the store planning on cancelling the pre-order as I figured I had waited long enough and I didn’t really need another game console. When I told the store clerk that I wanted to cancel my order, […]

Happy Chinese New Year!

A couple pictures of dogs in honor of the Year of the Dog.

Sex Machine - No Budget Masterpiece from Austin Texas?

Twitch had an intriguing post on a low budget/no budget movie called Sex Machine.
Looks like a bloody and salacious little b-movie with a sense of humor, and you gotta give props to a set of people making a movie on their weekends. It’s also got bowling, so what’s not to like.

Belthazar Restaurant and Wine Bar - Good Wine and Grilled Meats

Ok. I have been dragging my ass to finish all of my Cape Town, South Africa posts. Almost there. Almost.
The day when John ended up at the Emergency Room, the rest of us found ourselves wondering the nearby mall, food court and wharf looking for a place to eat. We spotted […]

Singles Going Steady: Bugy Craxone - Lucky

It’s been a bit since I dished up an free downloadable mp3 (too much Battlestar Galactica I guess), but while getting caught up on people’s take on the best j-indie and j-rock albums of 2005, I found my way to the web site of Bugy Craxone.
Now normally it is hard to find free downloads […]

Eland (or what I had for dinner)

One more photo of South African wildlife. Actually, not so wild. This was in a pasture on an ostrich farm.

Back on the Running Path Again

I ran for the first time since I hurt my foot in December. The weather was much warmer than I expected, which was good as I huffed and puffed my way through my regular 3 mile run. It was a little rough at first, but my body settled into a rhythm. I […]

Adventures in The Cape Winelands of South Africa

During our travels, we motored out from Cape Town to the Paarl wine district and the Stellenbosch wine district. While there we visited Fairview winery in Paarl, Kanonkop, Spier and Neethlingshof in the Stellenbosch. We also passed Warwick Estate, but we didn’t have time to stop (more on why I like their wines […]

Bananas!

I am usually open to any combination of pork fatty products on pizza. However, in Cape Town we had some pizza at a place that had a bacon, banana and garlic pizza called the Caribbean. Not sure I want to mix bacon and banana together. It probably tastes fantastic.
