Deadwood, TV at its Cussing and Swearing Best

We are currently watching the first season of HBO’s Deadwood. I will reserve judgement on the series after we have watched the first season. It does seem to be getting better.
It has changing my vocabulary. I don’t think I can remember hearing the word cocksucker used in so many ways, […]

Sugar Crazies

I bought some Nutella over the weekend. While we were at the store buying stuff for Easter Sunday dinner I noticed it on the shell and threw it into the cart.
I am currently enjoying a Nutella on toast revival. Well, perhaps not a revival, as I normally eat peanut butter and fluff or […]

Easter Dinner Takes Out the Microwave

My mom is in town for my brother’s 40th birthday and Easter. It’s been an interesting weekend from dinner at Maneki on Friday for my brother’s birthday, to the mad dash to Fred Meyer for the PSP, to a rain soaked drive past the just blooming tulip fields in La Conner, to dinner at […]

Initial Thoughts on the PSP

Ok, so I have had a day or so with the PSP and I can now write about my initial thoughts about the PSP.
To being with, the graphics are absolutely gorgeous. Looks great. The game (Wipeout Pure), the movie (Spider-Man 2) and the trailers and music videos from the sampler disc all look […]

The Need for PSP

I decided this morning that I absolutely had to have a PSP. I called Fred Meyer at 8am. They had one in stock, but they could not hold it for me. Dragging Patty and my mom along, we headed over to Fred Meyer in Kirkland. They still had it. As […]

A Rant for a Tuesday Evening in March

I only had a mild interest in the Schiavo case as it slowly blossomed into a story, but now that is a festering boil of stupidity in the Congress I am more intrigued. When somebody, or in this case the President and his merry band of idiot Rebuplicans, does something stupid I tend to […]

Coming to a TV Screen Near You…Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia

Sam Peckinpah was weird, twisted, hateful man, but he made beautiful and entertaining films despite that. Or perhaps of because of that. This week marks the release of one of his best movies, but one that is not for every one. Tomorrow Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia is being released […]

Below (DVD)

The movie marathon weekend continues with our Sunday night viewing of Below.
Penned in part by Darren Aronofsky and directed by David Twohy of Pitch Black and The Chronicles of Riddick fame, this is an above average movie, but one that ultimately squanders a good build up.
Rating: 2 good Bologni Sandwiches

The Village (DVD)

Low expectations can really help a movie and my expectations for the M. Night Shyamalan’s The Village were exceptionally low. I saw The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable and Signs in the theater, but I passed on The Village.
But the movie I saw this afternoon is a good movie. Not a great movie, […]

Saturday Night Out: the Olive Garden and the Home Cinema Experience

We had dinner with our friends Chris, Richard and their daughter Sam.
We visited the local Olive Garden, which was very, very packed despite our 5.30pm arrival. I guess the rainy, cloudy weather made everybody want to eat out.
Patty and I had not been to an Olive Garden in a long time, but […]
