Coca Cola Withdrawal

People at work have told me I have looked a little hagard, a little less peppy and generally tired lately. I have felt run down lately. Perhaps it is the overabundance of sunlight we have had in the northwest over the last couple of weeks.
I then realized that despite not being Catholic, […]

Watching the Blog Version of the Oscars

Based on an post by Warren Ellis, I have stopped watching the Oscars and I have started reading the Defamer’s liveblogging of the Oscars. It actually makes the Oscars funny again.

Taxes and Paul Weller

I started to do my taxes today. Not much fun, but ok.
I listened to a couple of Paul Weller cds while entered data into various forms. The music relieved a bit of the tedium of the tax process.

Thank God It’s Friday

It’s been a long week. Longer than five days for my brain. Patty is in Las Vegas for the weekend, so I am doing my best interpretation of a hermit, which is a good thing.
No fasting though. Dinner was a very yummy risotto based on a Naked Chef recipe accompanied […]

Sideways

Patty and I caught a showing of Sideways on Sunday night. It was the perfect code to a day drinking wine on Saturday, but I don’t think it is a perfect movie. In fact, I laughed and enjoyed it for the most part, but the movie is retreading some things that make it […]

My Home Town of Secessionists

It is disheartening to read about my home town of Killington being run into the ground by the greedy and and the insane.
I grew up in Killington when it was called Sherburne. Killington was just the name of the ski resort. It now appears that the Vermont state tax […]

Drinking in Leavenworth

Leavenworth was a blast over the weekend, but in an unexpected way. I planned to imbibe great quantities of alcohol (or at least large quantities to me) over the weekend, but I thought it would be beer not wine. However, it was wine and lots of it. It appears that Leavenworth is […]

So Long and Thanks for the Gonzo

Hunter S. Thompson is dead. From the reports, it is suicide. Weird.
Just got back from seeing Sideways and buying groceries at the local Top Foods, and I got the information from several different sources.
It’s been a good, fun, weird, sad weekend.

Leavenworth - a little bit of Bavaria, Beer and Bratworst

Off to Leavenworth today for a little bit of rest and relaxation with our friends Chris, Richard and their daughter Sam.
We will probably visit Uncle Ulees at some point, which is a little pub off the main square. Maybe King Ludwigs, which will probably have live music (or at least they used to). […]

Red Wines that I Like

I have been on the wine kick for a couple of months now. It has been fun and interesting, as it gives me another part of the grocery to wander around for a while trying to find something to drink.
In the process I have found 2 bottles of the red wine that […]
