It’s Late! What Am I Doing Up?

It’s almost midnight and I am still wandering around the Internet and reading email. Why? I was tired today and I am going to be more tired tomorrow.
It feels a bit like “Lost in Translation”.

Lost again

I watched the second half of the second episode while eating dinner with Patty. I still worry that this could go horribly wrong, but I am starting to get sucked in.
I keep thinking the Island of Dr. Moreau, but it also has The Most Dangerous Game feel.

80 GBs and counting

I finished ripping my audio cds today. Just over 80 GBs of mp3s. I finished up the classical, the soundtracks and the various artist compilations. I had both iTunes and Windows Media Player open, using the one with the better meta data.
I still have my audio books to do, but I consider […]

Swimming Pool (DVD)

Patty and friends watched the Swimming Pool while I was back in Vermont, so while Patty was out today I decided to watch it.
It is definitely a “literary” movie, and it is also very french, in that there is a lot of unabashed nakedness. This is most especially true of the character Julie, who […]

Black Adder - Dish and Dishonesty (DVD)

No election season is complete without watching the Black Adder III episode called “Dish and Dishonesty”, which involves Black Adder getting Baldrick elected to the House of Commons in a “rotten borough”, winning out against the snot nosed Prime Minister, Pit the Younger.
It also includes the memorable quote:
“I have a plan so cunning […]

the British Invasion Circa September 2004

Happily listening to a couple of new cds from UK this week.
The Bees - Free the Bees
These guys hail from the Isle of Wight, and they play some fine rock and roll. I love the poppy goodness of the album.
The Zutons - Who Killed the Zutons?
They kind of sound like a demented […]

Tom Waits - Real Gone

Looks like Tom Waits has a new album out. I stopped listening after Bone Machine.
There is a web site that goes with it (contains Flash content).
I also found this interesting blog about Tom Waits called The Eyeball Kid. It is all black, white and grey, which I like.

I Hate You George Lucas

Despite it being a collection of the special edition versions of the movies, I bought the new Star Wars DVD box set. Now I know why I have 3 or 4 VHS versions of Star Wars movies. I should have just watched my laserdisc versions.
“The Return of Darth Vader” segment is […]

Lost

Patty wanted to watch the premier of the new ABC series Lost, so I periodically engaged with the story while ripping some new cds, reading email and surfing the web.
I expected Dominic Monaghan to get killed in the first episode, but he was still alive as it ended in a very unsatisfying cliff hanger. […]

New Super Furry Animal Website

Super Furries have launched a new web site - http://www.songbooksfa.com/ - to coincide with their new singles collection, Songbook - Singles - Volume One.
Got some interesting stuff, include a very funny bio information, like the following -
“Their record deals have stipulated that the British Armed Forces are not entitled to their ‘usual’ discount for SFA […]
