LAST WEEK of this month’s Kindle-watch showed the highest total of Kindle’s yet. Of course, the iPad dominated ebook discussions for the week, even though ebooks are just a small piece of its offering. The last Kindle I saw was being used side by side with an iPhone.
I will have to […]

DESPITE spending less time on commuter and subway trains, the numbers don’t look that much off.
On the flight back from Seattle today it was dueling ebook readers, as one guy had a Sony Reader and one had a Kindle. The stewardess even mention that we needed to check the seatback pockets and not forget […]

I EXPECTED there to be a larger number of Kindle’s on the Fitchburg line and the Red line after the Christmas and New Year Holidays. The first week back on the train started slowly. At first I saw a Sony Reader. Not sure if it was a new Daily Edition or not. At the end […]

The Boston Book Festival Twitter linked to this interesting little mashup of “The Big Lebowski” and William Shakespeare entitled Two Gentlemen of Lebowski. It definitely brings a smile to face after a long first week back at the day job after the holidays. Makes me want to rush out and buy some milk […]

I DECIDED to count the number of Kindles I see on my regular commutes during the month of December. 0 for December 1st, but 1 for today. I looked over and the guy had a Kindle DX, which looked large and in charge compared to my Kindle 1.0. I didn’t really mind […]

WILLIAM S. BURROUGHS would have been 95 today, if he had but lived a little longer. At times, you could almost expect him to live forever, his body sustained by some twisted magical property of the Junk.
This year is also the 50th anniversary of “Naked Lunch”. There is a whole website […]

I SHOULD HAVE WRITTEN this post yesterday, but in the aftermath of taking my frustration with the universe out on the Superbowl, I forgot all about blogging yesterday. I got the type of game I wanted - competitive and close. It went down to the wire, so you can’t ask for more. I […]

ITS BEEN A LONG WEIRD DAY under the influence of cold medicine. Beside sleeping a lot and driking tea I have been writing poetry (lots of iambic pentameter, as I have been avoiding doing my next ‘Ode Less Travelled’ exercise). I think it helps to be half out of your mind when writing […]

JUST NOTICED THIS FOR THE DOCTOR WHO GEEKS OUT THERE (ok really just for me), they announced the new actor who will take over for David Tennant in the role of Doctor Who. His name is Matt Smitt. BBC has info here and here and here.
Not sure about his hair at the moment, […]
